Baijnath
Baijnath is located about 19 kms from Kausani. It is a small, ancient time which seems to have been unaffcted by time. It was once the capital of the Katyuri dynasty of kings and this place was known as Kartikyapura. Baijnath is important not only because of this fact alone; it is also a very important place from historical point of view as well.
The past can be clearly felt when one pays a visit to this place. The Baijnath temple, located here is famous for it's ancient stone idol of the Hindu Goddess Parvati. Situated about 8kms. from Baijnath on the Gwaldam road lies the famous Kotkimai temple.
Pinnah
Pinnah is a small village which can be reached after a 5km. trek from Kausani. It is situated at an altitude of 2,750 metres above sea level and it overlooks the beautiful Kosi valley. Then, there is the Pinnah temple that is located here as well.
The main temple is a beautiful square structure with the door facing the south, and the figures of Raja, etc. sculpted in intricate detail on the walls. The roof of the temple is in arched. The main complex of the temple contains a couple of images of Mahadeo and Devi, as the original set of idols was destroyed in an earthquake in 1920.
Neeleshwar and Bheeleshwar
These two hills are located within a short distance from Bageshwar. One can drive upto Bageshwar in a car and then can climb up some stairs to reach Neeleshwar. Chandika temple and Shiva temple are located at Neeleshwar.
Someshwar
Located about 11kms from Kausani, on the Almora-Kausani highway, it is a beautiful, small town. The Shiva temple that is located here is the 12th Jyotirlinga.
