The Jim Corbett National Park, which is located in
the Himalayan foothills, provides a large variety of flora and fauna.
But, the most famous attraction of the park is obviously the population
of tigers, leopards and elephants.
The tourist attractions of Corbett are the following:
The flora and fauna
The flora and fauna present in the Corbett National Park is perhaps the
most famous tourist attraction. The park houses a variety of plants and
animal species, some of which are even endangered in the wild. The park
is home to animals like tigers, elephants, leopards, the jungle cats,
etc. The Himalayan black bear is also visible in the park, at the higher
hills while the Sloth bear is found in the lower regions.
Wildlife Safari
The wildlife safari of the Corbett National Park is the best way to
visit the park. Elephant rides are an experience in itself. But these
elephants don't generally venture into the deep jungles, beyond the
grasslands. Atop the elephants, one can easily view chital, sambhar and
many other species of animals.
Though tiger sightings are few and far between, but one just might be
able to see fresh pugmarks. There is the jeep safari as well, which is a
convenient and comfortable way of traveling through the Corbett National
Park. For the photographers and wildlife enthusiasts, jeep safaris are
the best way to travel inside the park.
Fishing
For fishing, one can visit Ramnagar which is located just 50kms. from
the Corbett National Park. It is also the administrative office of the
park and Project Tiger. However, permission is required for fishing.
Corbett Waterfall
This is yet another famous tourist attraction in Corbett. The Corbett
waterfall is located at a distance of just 3 kms. from the Kaladhungi
main road. The waterfall is at a height of 20 metres. There are many
camping sites also available around the park.
