The Olgia festival is celebrated on the first day in
the month of August. During this festival, the agricultural fields are
filled with crops that are ripened and there are lots of fruits and
vegetables in the trees and the cattle are very productive as well. The
agriculturists, during this festival, give various presents to the
owners of the land.
Not only this, even the artisans give various kinds of presents to the
people who purchase their goods, in return. Various items like metal
calipers, axes, ghee, vegetables and firewood are exchanged during this
festival.
This festival is also popularly known as Ghee Sankranti during which
people put ghee tilaks on their foreheads. During this festival, various
delicious food items are also cooked, like, chapatis which are stuffed
with urad dal, etc. This festival is mainly celebrated during the month
of August (on the first day) of the Hindu calendar.
