Auli is a place that cannot be described in words.
The place is known for skiing more than anything else. It falls in the
Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India and is located at a height of
3000 metres above sea level. One can come to Auli and enjoy the
beautiful sights that it has to offer. Then, there is Joshimath, located
just 16 kms. from Auli, which one can visit. However, the tourist
attractions of Auli are the following:
Skiing
Skiing is the main reason why tourists come to Auli. It is the major
tourist attraction of the place. The Auli skiing resort was setup by the
Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam to provide a skiing destination for the
visiting tourists. With a sheer drop of 500 metres and snow fields on
all sides, Auli has emerged as a major tourist destination in India.
It does not matter what facilities one wants, everything is available
at the Auli. For people who do not know how to ski, GMVN organizes
special skiing courses here, ranging from 2 days to 14 days. Skiers in
Auli are provided with clean stretches of 10-20 km of snow-covered
mountain slopes. There is also a descent slope of 500 m from the ridge
over a stretch of 3 km.
Joshimath
Joshimath is located just 16 kms. from Auli and has many attractions.
It has some ancient temples which date back to 8th century, when
spiritual leader, Ali Guru Shankaracharya had established these shrines.
It also acts as the base camp and the gateway to Badrinath. From here,
one can also reach 'Valley of Flowers' quite easily.
Vanishinarayan Kalpeshwar
From Auli, it is about 24 kms away. It falls just after the village of
Helang. There is a cave by the name Kalpeshwar here, in this beautiful
valley which tourists come to visit.
Bhavishya Badri
Bhavishya Badri is one of the five shrines located in the region.
Bhavishya Badri is located about 3 kms from Tapovan. It is located in
the middle of dense forest and is accessible only on foot.
